Grantees for the 2017 cycle include NO/AIDS Task Force, Food for Friends, Gay Easter Parade, NOAGE, and Breakout! $14,000 was distributed on Saturday, May 13, at our "Show and Tell Happy Hour" party at the 700 Club. We also announced our theme for the coming year: "2018: A Space Oddity."
At its recent Board meeting, the Friday Night Before Mardi Gras organization made its yearly grant donations to four area non-profits, supporting their direct service programs which reach a wide variety of members of the LGBTQ community. This year FNBMG was able to direct a total of $9,000 back into the community through Breakout Youth, NO AGE NOLA, Gay Easter Parade and Food for Friends, and Crescent Care and the NOAIDS Task Force. In addition, FNBMG raised $7,350 for the medical expenses of Leonel Melendez, a New Orleans area native and a victim of the horrific tragedy at the Pulse Club in Orlando.Read More
Friday Night Before Mardi Gras was devastated to learn of the tragic nightclub shooting at Pulse in Orlando, Florida, where 49 of our brothers and sisters lost their lives and 53 more were injured. We have few words to express the sorrow, fear, outrage, and sadness we feel. However, our community is resilient and we decided the best way for Friday Night Before Mardi Gras to make an impact was to do what we do best: host an event to raise funds for a New Orleans native who was injured in the shooting.Read More
Thank you to all who came out on Saturday for our Adult Swim pool party. It was hot, it was wet, but there was nothing bad about a night spent raising $5770 for LGTBQ organizations in New Orleans! The rain looked ominous early, but the skies cleared, the crowds rolled in and we had a wonderful night. The party got started around 6:00 pm and people wasted no time hopping in the gorgeous pool at the Maison de Macarty B&B. The presence of several handsome "pool boys" lounging in the water may have had something to do with that!Read More
